Still at home...

...and getting bored now.

I'm supposed to be resting and so Mendi issued and Edict to [livejournal.com profile] gardenpixie telling her that I needed to rest because I was tired out from doing stuff in Melton and Oakham on Tuesday and Wednesday. She was right, but managed to issue her edict in a very Aspergic way and upset a Pixie - Hey ho.

I know I was supposed to be resting, but the drift of PC bits on the desk in the office and the incessant grimblings of Alexi and Ivan meant that I spent my morning rebuilding my PC. I made resonable progress and I have caninbalised [livejournal.com profile] chaoshedgerow's old server Rog to provide a chassis and motherboard to my disks and drives. I've still got some stuff to configure - but that involves finding driver disks from amongst the kiffle in the office. Its so bloody tempting to realy tidy the place - but I think that would necessitate ordering a skip or two!

Things to do:
Scrounge a sound card/graphic card for the PC
Configure the modem
Configure the PC for the Network

Things to do (longer term)
Buy another PC for the boys to have as a game PC
Wire up the house for a proper home network
- Must decide if we're going to go wireless
- Configure a PC as a server

I'm still feeling very tired and feeble which is another reason why I won't be doing any travelling this weekend. Hopefully the boys and I will go round to TGT and Sandra's for a quiet Solstice (if there's such a thing - especially if Pixie and Ginger Jen will be there)
!)

Very Worrying News

I got the call I’d been dreading from my parents’ last night. My Mum has been having bladder problems for a couple of months. She has been passing dark brown blood! The medical services have been really good and she’s been shuttled through the system relatively quickly. She went for an internal scan yesterday and it showed a number of masses in her bladder. The surgeon did not do a biopsy, but wants to operate and remove them as soon as possible. Understandably, Mum was very upset by all this and I wish I could have been there for her. However, my sister is being her rock and will make sure that she is OK and I will go up as soon as I feel well enough to do the drive up to North Wales.

Mendi and I have spoken about bladder cancer and bladder operations and the prognosis is relatively good. We’ve just got to hold our breath, cross our fingers and pray for the next few weeks.
