What have you been up to...?
Jul. 19th, 2003 06:29 pmWhat have I been up to? Not a lot, but also far too much. I shall endeavour to explain.
In the past few days I've done nothing more exciting than attend Alexi's end-of-primary-school assembly and go shopping. However, my health and the addition of a Pixie, Daemongirl, NNN and two boys who have broken up from school have made things more than a bit exhausting. I'd hoped that with all that help about I would have ended up not having to do anything, but I seem to have spent my time either tidying up after them myself or moaning at them to tidy up after themselves. Pixie has been on my side, but her debilitaing hayfever is back with a vengance and she is doing an impression of a snuffly-anteater on its last legs from tuberculosis - bless. Things came to a head when we were walking arounnd Melton Mowbray and I had an XXL sense of humour failure.
I had had enough and brought everybody home, shut myself in my room and went to sleep for an hour. I felt a bit better when I got up, only to find that the place was as messy as ever and the assembled masses had watched a video instead of making a start on the laundry as I'd asked. I think I became numb at that point and just shut EVERYONE out and got on with making dinner. It took Mendi's return from work to calm me down and make me see things in perspective.
I suppose things have been better, but a trip to Nottingham with all and sundry was very tiring and I need to rest.
On the Good Side
1. Alexi's final school assembly was very moving. The class had composed a song to the turn of "Let it Be" that documented their expereinces through 7 years at the school and brought tears, not only to their eyes but to the eyes of their teachers and parents.
2. I will be returning to work on 4 August (as long as the Angiogram doesn't find anything too nasty)
3. Mendi, the boys and I will have a long weekend to go up and see my Mum in North Wales from 30 July - 3 August
4. Mendi and I can both take vacation from work from 9 - 17 August. Whatever shall we do? Camping somewhere is fairly high on our agenda.
5. We're off over to Lizzie's for a going away party for her son Andrew and his wife Angie (they're heading back to China to teach English) and her daughter, the gorgeous Ginger Jen who is travelling to Nicaragua to spend some months working with a fair-trade char-id-ee. It should be a great party and I'm planning to have a good time. We don't have to woory about coming home because Daemongirl and NNN are looking after the boys. Thsi means that Mendi and I can imbibe what we like and then snuggle up in Pixie's Place with whomsoever cares to join us :@D
