Oops!

I appear to have given my phone an impromptu high diving lesson into a toilet (thankfully a clean one) Might I suggest that you use email or landline to contact me this evening whilst my phone is recovering on a nice warm radiator.

Hahahahaha. THank you for making me smile. At least it was your own, my mum once dropped the contents of her handbag in a toilet on holiday including my camera and dads phone.

[identity profile] sarah-mum.livejournal.com 2006-04-24 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Does that mean you'll be making dirty phone calls now?

[identity profile] whotheheckami.livejournal.com 2006-04-24 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Only to the right people ;@)

[identity profile] sarah-mum.livejournal.com 2006-04-24 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
No, make them to the wrong people, they're much more fun.

BaDong!

[livejournal.com profile] musingsofallama managed the same thing but into a full, unflushed toilet. The insurance company insisted that he send in the phone, even after repeated and detailed descriptions of its state. Imagine the poor little mail room employee who had to open that package...

[identity profile] whotheheckami.livejournal.com 2006-04-24 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
ORLY - would you like to suggest someone? ;@)

The phone stands more chance of survival if you dry battery and phone separately, by the way.

Even then, it may be a goner, alas. /-8

It seems fine now - I disected the phone as much as I could - battery, sim, memmory card, case, keypad - and dried them all seperately. I was quite pleased to find that it all went back together OK and worked fine

[identity profile] abigail-42.livejournal.com 2006-04-25 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
I've done that - very embarassing!
Luckily sherlock_42 has little drying packs like you get in certain packaging so he shoved everything separately in a bag with those and it was all better in no time :) Still works now too, so yours should be fine - the trick seems to to take it all apart as quickly as possible.

Heh, I managed to do that one morning when I was so sleepy I managed to tangle my feet in my dressing gown cord trip, and basically throw the phone frmo the hallway, through the open bathroom door, flying perfectly into the toilet with a comedy 'ploop' sound. Would have been a perfect three point shot in basketball!

After a few days drying out the phone is still working now, two years later. ;)

A whole handbag? And it fitted? She must have been trying very hard ;@)

[identity profile] whotheheckami.livejournal.com 2006-04-25 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Serves 'em right. I hope he internal mailed it to the drone who asked for it!

[identity profile] whotheheckami.livejournal.com 2006-04-25 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
It seemed to enjoy a couple of hours snuggled up in a towel on a warm radiator

[identity profile] uberredfraggle.livejournal.com 2006-04-25 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
the contents of her handbag

It was on the back of the toilet and she knocked it over.

[identity profile] whotheheckami.livejournal.com 2006-04-25 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
You'v had the same phone for two years? Surely you must be loosing geek points by now? ;@)

[identity profile] whotheheckami.livejournal.com 2006-04-25 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
D'oh! How many years do you think you'll be reminding her of her accident?

[identity profile] uberredfraggle.livejournal.com 2006-04-25 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Well it happened about 6 years ago. :p

[identity profile] abigail-42.livejournal.com 2006-04-25 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds nice - I think I'd enjoy that too :D

[identity profile] whotheheckami.livejournal.com 2006-04-25 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Radiators are a bit narrow - curled up in front of the Rayburn may be better

[identity profile] abigail-42.livejournal.com 2006-04-25 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
We don't have a Rayburn :(
I was picturing an old fashioned "fat" radiator!
I shall put up with curling up in bed under the duvet instead :D

[identity profile] whotheheckami.livejournal.com 2006-04-25 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Me too. With a bit of P'Terry to giggle myself to sleep with :@)

[identity profile] abigail-42.livejournal.com 2006-04-25 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah! Which one will you be giggling too?

[identity profile] whotheheckami.livejournal.com 2006-04-25 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Hogfather
HO! HO! HO!

[identity profile] abigail-42.livejournal.com 2006-04-26 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
Happy Holidays!
Hope you had a nice rest.

[identity profile] whotheheckami.livejournal.com 2006-04-26 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
Sadly not - I slept very poorly

[identity profile] abigail-42.livejournal.com 2006-04-26 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
Oh poor you :(
We slept well until Isaac came in at 6;45 and got into the bed with us - he doesn't exactly know how to lie still and be quiet, in the end I was trying not to laugh as he lay there fidgetting and singing to himself. At least he let us lie there until the alarm went off - then he was saying "Why aren't you getting up?" the second I'd switched it off!

[identity profile] ev1ldonut.livejournal.com 2006-04-26 10:32 am (UTC)(link)
I've had the same phone for nearly three years! It's small, has excellent battery life, has a calendar I can synch with our web calendar, has a colour scree, a hands free, can make calls and can text.

I need no more than this so I see no reason to change! When it dies, then I'll get a new one, till then, I'm quite happy. :)

(it's not like I need a camera phone, is it? *grin*)
