I'm off on my travels this week. Northfield has a stall as the BBC Good Homes Show at the NEC and I'm heading up to Birmingham to set up our stall. If all goes well I won't be heading back to Rutland tonight; instead I will be motoring down to Chumenham - rar! I'll be working at the Show on Thursday and Sunday. The big news is that the stall will have a special guest star on Sunday - my rather excellent Chum!

I'm up early to get my stuff together and get up to the farm as soon as possible. I need to check all the animals before I even start mobilising the troops to find and load all the kit I will need for the 4 days of the Show. The 1200 burgers and bread rolls are the easy things to find. We know where they are. Finding the right set of show kit when it hasn't been used since September is another matter.

In other news:

House: Is looking a million times better thanks to work from craftmen, Kate, the boys and me.
The front windows and woodwork have all been repainted and the door totally renovated
The back windows have been replaced with uPVC units
Ivan's room has been repainted
A whole lot of clutter has been chucked, hidden or moved to storage at the farm

There are still lots and lots of jobs to do and the work party this weekend will be most welcome. Come one come all! I fill be flinging my meat on the Weber on Sat night for the delectation of any volunteers.

Farm:
Loads going on. All the stock that need turning out are out enjoying the lush grass. Everything is looking well and getting fat. The piglets are mental and race around their pen for hours on end. Yesterday the boys and girls were moved to seperate pens as they are getting to a certain age and we don't particulary want any mutant piggies as a result of interbreeding!

***STOP PRESS***
Nest of Vipers discivered at farm!
...and I don't mean the two-legged variety. There have always been plenty of those ;@)
Noope, the bss found a teeny tiny baby viper in one of the barns. Its mother must have laid her eggs there in the heat of the decomposing muck and straw and this little one had just hatched out. It was so pretty, with the most beautiful diamond markings. It was so small that it couldn't have been an adder...it was a subtractor! Sadly, it scuttled away before I could find gloves and a cardboard box to allow me to cach it safely and carry it away from the farm. However, I'm sure it has high-slithered it away from all the noise already.
