It's come to this. I'm waiting for my dinner in a faux Irish pub, listening to Toto's Africa on the juke-box and wondering where it all went wrong! I swore I wouldn't come back to this place, but it's close to my hotel and next-door to my favorite coffee-shop (no prizes for guessing where I am going for my post-prandial libation!) The food's OK and the staff are cute so I don't know what I've got to complain about, but it's my LJ and I'll complain if I like - so yah-boo-sucks to you ;@)

Last night went according to plan and his local was as welcoming as ever. It was after midnight by the time I was dropped back at the hotel and I soon collapsed into bed and fell quickly to sleep. But not for long! All too soon I was summoned back into consciousness by the trilling of my mobile phone. I mumbled out a sleep-befuddled greeting to discover that the LOML had realised that she had not said goodnight to me. Some 30 minutes after she had taken a sleeping tablet!
The ensuing conversation was most entertaining; all the more so because Mendi will have little or no recolection of how outrageous she was or what she agreed to. I wish I was a big enough scum-bag to hold her to what she said (but I doubt I could find 3 dwarven contortionists and a gallon of Swarfega by the weekend!)

Morning came all too soon, but the following day has been reasonable and I have achieved quite a bit.

Got back from work at about 6 and wandered into town to do some shopping, but alas my heart was not in it and so I returned to the hotel and enjoyed a lovely long chat with the delightful Miss [livejournal.com profile] flickgc as I sat in front of the hotel, enjoying a Hoegaarden (current beer of choice) and watching the sun set over the roof tops of Haarlem.

Mood: Tired
Music: Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams (are made of this...)

Later
I've finished my meal and am now enjoying a fine cup of orange tea with something nice to smoke with it! This is such a civilised country!

Mood: Chilled
Music: Something very, very THUMPY that [livejournal.com profile] chaoshedgerow would love!
Current Read: The Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman (on Palm)
