...and it has been 4 days since my last post (except for a meme a few minutes ago!)

Well my Mel, you could do better by telling us about your misdemeanours
Wednesday
A lovely sunny day which I made full use of with lots of positive feelings. I even got some work in the eveing by popping up to the farm to finish loading up for the Show and then driving the truck over to Burghley and tipping everything off onto the stall. I couldn't do a proper job as the light was beginning to fade. Home for an early night because of Mendi's early start.

Thursday
I was woken at 05:45 by [profile] the_mendicant heading off for her first shift at the Burghley Horse Trials and then went immediately back to sleep before waking up at a more normal 07:00 for the first day of scholl for Ivan. He looked so smaart togged up in his new uniform and it was a pleasure to see him go off to Big School!

I then had a lovely walk up to the farm with Maggie where we had loads to do. I only got about 10 minutes of gardening done before I got a call from Jan at the Show and he reeled of a lits of things he needed to do which were a lot more fun.
Maggie and I got to be real farmers and took the pick up to feed the beasts - during which I nearly got gored by one of the White Park steers! Bloody horns - grrrrr! Note to self: take a walloping stick next time. I had loads of other things to do, but managed to pick up a lovely headache which I couldn't shake throughout the day.

I was home by 13:30 and tried to doze for a bit, but the headache was too much. Instead I got more stuff done and pottered. I had visitors in the evening in the shape of [profile] daemongirl, [profile] user, [personal profile] dylan and Pixie. It was lovely to have company in the house and we all had a great game of Munchkin (guess who won?). Alex and Dylan ended up staying over and were there to greet the return of a very Greasy Girl (poor Mendi was shattered!) I administered a bath, Baileys and bong which seemed the right thing to do.

Friday
I was up at 05:30 for my first shift at the Show. 14 hours later I got home and was in a similar state to Mendi. It had been very hard work, but I'd enjoyed it. However, I managed to pick up a nasty fat burn on my thumb and had a huge blister as well as numerous aches and pains and cuts and bruises. A bath and sleep were most welcome.

Saturday
I got up with Mendi at 05.15 and helped her to get ready for her shift and then I snuck off back to bed. For some crazy reason I was awake by 07.30 and just got on with stuff. I had loads to do and didn't stop all day. I suppose I should have been sensible and had a proper rest, but I drove myself on because it needed doing. Pixie came across at 10.00 and just sort of got sucked up in the maelstrom (Melstrom?). We had lots of grown-up and difficult stuff to talk about and I suppose that doing it to a back-drop of chores made it somewhay easier to bear.

[personal profile] robinbloke arrived at 18.00 and Pixie and I were able to leave him to look after the boys and to await the arrival of the Greasy Girl whilst we headed to Pixie's to await the arrival of another Greasy Girl - the Daemon had been working at the show too and she needed to be aimed at a bath whilst Pixie and I drank Pimms and ate yummy food.

Sunday
My last shift at the Show. I was awoken by a tap on the door at 05.30 by the Daemoin and we drove to the farma nd then I drove the truck to Burghley. Another beautiful morning and an extremely hot day on the grills. Things felt a bit subdued because of this. However, life goes on and the day flew past and the burgers flew off the grills. We finished serving at 17:30 and 90 minutes later we were off the site. I've not felt as tired as this for a long time.

We got back to the farm and I took D home and gave Pixie a quick squiggle before heading Chez Who for bath and food with Kate, Robin and the boys. Robin headed home and we all headed for bed. I managed about 2 hours of sleep before my mind went ping and I wrote this...

Well done for getting that off your chest my son, now your penance is to tell us what is happening next week...

Mendi and I are off to Bilbao later today *BOUNCE*
