A good, but tiring weekend

Pixie and I have spent the weekend looking after Alexi and Ivan and we've done our best to make it a fun time for them as well as us.
Friday evening saw us all tucking in to eat scrummy meat from the farm with homemade chips and watching the last episode of Dr Who. This was Pixie's first ride on the emotional roller-coaster of the last episode, but the n'th for the boys. I was only watching it for the second time, but still found it wonderful. However, I do wonder how easily the role will sit with the new incarnation. We followed that with a hilarious Bill Bailey DVD - rar! Pixie and I kept finding bottles of nice fizz that were in the fridge and so toddled up to sleep in a rather precarious state after the boys had gone to bed.
I said that we did our best to look after the boys. In Alexi's case that didn't involve much as he was spending Saturday and Sunday at a Scout Camp where he was taken parascending. He absolutely loved it and phoned me after his flight (drop?) to say that he definitely wants to do that again. We'll have to find the details of the nearest club. Apparently, you can make your first solo flight once you are 14. I might give it a go to. Its one of the air sports I've never tried. Ivan was more than happy to llok after himself on Saturday because Pixie and I had agreed to take him to Forbidden Planet in Nottingham on Saturday. We made the most of a bit of freedom on Saturday to do some chorse (we really know how to live!). We did the recycling and shopping and were so exhausted from the effort (and our champagne/cava hangover) that we had an afternoon snooz-ette :@).
The evening saw me making a full roast chicken dinner with all the trimmings - yummy scrummy. There seemed to be nothing to entertain us on the TV and we'd drunk too much to go for a DVD; but then we remembered the Freeview channels and happily watched the coverage of T in the Park until quite late. However, poor Pixie was pretty pre-occupied as there were events happening nearby that took a terrific emotional toll on her. We went to bed and I held her until she finally went off to sleep. Unfortunately, the hot evening, combined with too much food and the emotional upset gave me a really lousy night's sleep. Luckily I was able to bounce awake this morning and take Alexi and 6 of his fellow scouts to his second day of parascending then to collect Pixie and Ivan and head up to Nottingham. Ivan spent the money that was buring a hole in his pocket and Pixie got lots of great finds at the Long Tall Sally Sale. I even got some bits as a surprise for
the_mendicant who's been having a lovely time with
robinbloke. I hope she likes them.
Pixie has gone home now and I'm waiting for Mendi to get back from Cambridge. I'm looking forward to a busy week ahead. I'm feeling pretty positive because I've found 3 very promising jobs to apply for; I've got lots to do at the farm, both in the garden and preparing for shows; I've got another gardening client to visit and develop a quote for; and I get to spend time with 3 beautiful women.
