The boys, Maggie & I are staying with my parents in Llandudno in North Wales. It's great to get back to my heimat. Sadly
the_mendicant could not afford to take the time off work :@( However, she is back on lj - yay!!!
My folks are looking increasingly frail, but it's not surprising considering that Dad will be 85 in June and Mam is 74. One thing they are doing is making the best of things and Mam is rushing around looking after us.
We drove up yesterday after the usual round of chores for me:
BinB for Mendi
Dog walking
Sending the Digi-box for decoding (we lost the parental code we set!)
Arranging for collection of
chaoshedgerow's skip
Calling the garage:
radiator- GBP150
clutch - GBP250
head gasket- GBP500
that rather assumes that it is just the gasket that is shagged
Calling work about a company car - not very encouraging - seems I can't opt out of the allowance scheme for another year - bugger
It was a very subdued Mel who drove up to Wales. The journey was straight-forward and my spirits lifted when we crossed the border and it wasn't actually raining! We'vs had a quiet time so far and I've tried to catch up on some sleep. I also think that I've managed to convince my folks that I'm working when I'm on the laptop - although I did have some trouble expiaining the Eastercon photographs!
I got some good news earlier this morning when my boss gave me a call. He has managed to manoeuvre a way around the car allowance regulations and it should be OK to use a pool car from 1 May until I decide if I want to order a new car
BOUNCE BOUNCE!!!
Now all I have to do is to decide:
What to do with the Mazda
Which Pool Car to select
Which new car to go for
BOUNCE BOUNCE!!!
I'm writing much of this on the Clie whilst sitting in the sun waiting for a school friend to join me for lunch. We've worked out that we haven't seen each other for nearly 22 years. Surprisingly, we didn't get back in touch through Friends Reunited - I found her parents' number in an old address book. I wonder how she's changed?
