My Mum
Visited my parents at the weekend and they both looked a lot better than I thought they would - Mum is as energetic as ever doesn't seem to be letting things get to her. She was quite surprised to hear of the good wishes that she'd been receiving from the LJ community.

Going Back to Work
Quite traumatic and its still going on. HR are being typically arse-covering and want cast-iron guarantees that I'm well enough to return to work and will not die on their time! My boss wants me to look at re-scheduling the trips that I miised whilst I was ill. Finally, I want to ease back into things as steadily as possible; especially as I had wonderful chest pains today. The meeting that we had became quite confrontational and I feel as if I'm walking in a minefield despite the smiling-viper-like assurances from HR that is was all being done "for my own good" Hmmmm.

Anyway, I poked off to the Doctors in the afternoon and got my arm pumped up - 114/84 - yay! And to get the chit from him to say that I'm as healthy as a healthy thing on a healthy day in health-land. I'll go back to work tomorrow armed with a piece of paper and see what happens.

Other Stuff
Drove past a closed up farmhouse on the way back through Welsh Wales and am making enquiries through my contacts to see who owns it and if its on the market. It's perfect and sits in a hidden valley that we only found because my navigation had a blip on the way home.

Off to the pictures tonight to see The Secretary but for now I'm going to take the dog for a walk and make tea for the 4 of us 'cos her Mendi-ness is having a snooze - bye y'all xxx

[profile] the_mendicant and I went out together (with each other and with no one else!) last night. We went to Stamford Arts Centre to see The Secretary. We enjoyed a great little movie that won at Sundance last year. It has a strong BDSM theme running through it, but does not descend into exploitation, gawping or titilation. It also has some superb performances from its cast and will certainly make me look out for more work by Steven Shainberg – thoroughly recommended.

In constant search for a better deal my employers have decided to switch all our mobile phones from O2 to OrangeTM. "So what!" I hear you say; well it means that I get A New Phone - yay! I have now got a Nokia 6310I and have transferred everything off to it from my anti-diluvian 5110. It’s got loads of features and I’m looking forward to using its modem to allow my Clie to connect to the Web. I talked this over with [profile] the_mendicant this morning and she was distinctly unimpressed. She seemed to think that I already had more than enough ways to connect to the web! Me thinks she is missing the point :@)

The best news is that with Orange I can have multiple accounts on the same phone. This will allow me to make and pay for my private calls and avoid any more embarrassing moments with my boss. However, I still have to agree with him what level of private calls the company is willing to pay for when I am way from home. Do any of you have any written policies about this?
