Calling any Petrol Heads
Sep. 19th, 2005 10:29 amI need to decide what to do with my car following its breakdown on the way to Wales. The problem was traced to a ( thoroughly blown cylinder head gasket ). This was diagnosed with a compression test which showed 100% compression on No 1 cylinder, 0% on 2 and 3, but 40% on No 4. The mechanic reground the valves on 2,3 and 4, replaced the gasket and put it all back together. However, they didn't do another compression test before handing it back to me because I they were muppets and I was hassling them for the car. The car is running fine now, but I'm concerned about that pressure drop on cylinder 4. Should I?
1. Ignore it, don't worry, re-grinding the valves will have sorted it.
2. Get a compression test sorted when I get a chance.
3. Panic! Get it to a garage today.
