Time - what's that?
Oct. 12th, 2005 08:18 amYet another rushed update...
The weekend...what can I say? How about - it get better and better! I had a wonderful chum-filled time in Sheffield and Leeds. The last Batfink! was packed with a great atmosphere and lots of lovely people. I danced until my feet hurt and then. of course I had to dance some more. Especially when the Pogues were played :@D.
Fire alarms at 6am are not fun when you got to sleep well after 3 - bleurggh! I don't know how my chum thought I was generally switched on and aware - I was running on autopilot alone.
Saturday was pubbage with the usual suspects (*waves* to them all) and a very tired drive up to Leeds. We settled into a lovely room and wandered around the canal area in search of food - lots of revellers about and lovely smells (almost reminiscent of Singapore river, including the sewarage!) but no decent food that didn't need a mortgage! Retired to the hotel to grab a bottle of wine and a steak sandwich and headed to the room to talk toot and get ambushed by Cider House Rules on the TV - one box of tissues later we got back to talking toot and other things. The film was really good and I wonder why I've never got round to seeing it until now.
Got and extra hour in bed because of this post and didn't work out our error until we were driving home! A free hour - rar! Drove Sarah all the way home because of ridiculous engineering on the railway and becasue I didn't want to say goodbye.
Almost scavenged a recently dead-deer from the side of the road, but settled on moving it to where it was no longer a hazard because I realised that Mendi would not appreciate deer guts and blood all over the inside of her pimp-jeep. However, we regretted not taking it to the wonderful Cotswold pub where we had dinner. They did wonders with venison steak and I'm sure they would have been happy for some more.
A great weekend and I'm now well stuck into another week of work at the farm. More of that in another post, but for now I'm off to put up an electric fence - they are like violet wands for sheep! ;@)

Calling petrol-heads
Oct. 12th, 2005 01:02 pm...or diesel heads
The Farm owns a tatty but extremely useful Toyota pick-up. The Pick-up box is very rusty and won't get through its MOT at the end of the month. Welding it up is an option, but I want to look at sourcing a scrap/reconditioned part.
Can anyone suggest some good websites to look in?
Cheers
