Happy St David’s Day!

Mae hen wlad fy nhadau
Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi,
Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri;
Ei gwrol ryfelwyr, gwladgarwyr tra mad,
Tros ryddid collasant eu gwaed.

Gwlad, gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad,
Tra môr yn fur
I'r bur hoffbau,
O bydded i'r heniaith barhau.

Hen Gymru fynyddig, paradwys y bardd,
Pob dyffryn, pob clogwyn, i'm golwg sydd hardd;
Trwy deimlad gwladgarol, mor swynol yw si
Ei nentydd, afonydd, i mi.

Gwlad, gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad,
Tra môr yn fur
I'r bur hoffbau,
O bydded i'r heniaith barhau.

Os treisiodd y gelyn fy ngwlad dan ei droed,
Mae hen iaith y Gymry mor fyw ag erioed,
Ni luddiwyd yr awen gan erchyll law brad,
Na thelyn berseiniol fy ngwlad.

Gwlad, gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad,
Tra môr yn fur
I'r bur hoffbau,
O bydded i'r heniaith barhau.

Damn straight. :)
I miss St David's day at school, those were happy days... *sighs nostaligicallly*

Though I never did forgive my Welsh teacher for making me do a Welsh poem recitation for the school Eisteddfod. Stood on a bloody stage, on my own, in front of over 500 kids, not allowed ot have the poem to read so I had to do it from memory and had nothing to look at other than their faces!!

Put me off public speaking for life, gave me an almost phobia of it! Came second in the recitation competition though *grin*

What looks like a poem in a language I don't understand a word of, followed by a beautiful picture of leeks.
That had me in stitches...
Sorry hun, it's just... Veg?
hehe...

Happy St David's day to you. My Kevin is welsh. I have just cooked him a fried leek dish that was really yummy, and we are now enjoying a couple of glasses of port and some welsh caerphilly cheese...

Cheers!

From a dutiful Welsh American.

I wore my little wooden leek yesterday...and thought about my grandfather "a big man for Wales" (has to be said in a gentle Cardiff accent), who loved the valleys.
