The Week Thus Far

I'm having a typically hectic week. Monday saw me at work as normal, but leaving early to drive back to Rutland to collect Pixie and then drive back to Leicester to go and see Embrace playing at De Montfort Hall. It was a great gig and we had superb seats at the end of the circle overlooking the stage. We were close enough to see the zits on Danny’s face! They played a lot of stuff from their current album. And it had been satisfyingly de-Coldplayed ;@) Wonderful Stuff!
However, I received an upsetting text during the gig. Mendi told me that she'd just heard that a friend and colleague from my RAF days had died from lung cancer. John and his wife helped Mendi and I thorough some difficult times when the Alexi was born had again when I had my first breakdown. John had always been a heavy smoker and it was no surprise to hear how he'd died. However, it made it particularly difficult to have Pixie chain-smoking as I drove us home. I'm usually pretty tolerant of smoking, but it was impossible for me that night. We got home, we argued and we're still trying get over that. *Sigh*
I was late driving in to work on Tuesday because Mendi had a breakfast meeting. This meant that I got home from Pixie's at about 07:15, walked Maggie and saw the boys off to school. I ended up flogging to work through both the rush hour and horrible wet snow – joy of joys! All I wanted to do when I got there was curl up and sleep! I had to work another short day because I’d told Mendi that I would take Ivan to Film Club in Stamford. I got home, gulped down a superb beef stew from Northfield Farm and then played taxis. I used my time wisely and gave Maggie a good walk in the park in Stamford. I was utterly exhausted when I got home and only had time to have a bath, a quick chat with Mendi and neck a sleeping tablet before collapsing into unconsciousness!
Wednesday was a better day. It started even earlier for me when I woke before my alarm at 05:20. I saw snow out of the window and decided to head off there and then. The driving conditions were atrocious, but the journey only took about 15 minutes longer. The day at work was ho-hum, but I met some friends at head office in Worcester and had a good gossip. I made up some hours in the afternoon and then headed down to Cheltenham. I went out for drink and food with a Really Good Chum. We particularly enjoyed watching some of Nam's lowlife doing impromptu auditions for Shameless! We finished our food and met a crowd of Very Interesting People including some silversmiths, a healer, an assembler programmer and a couple of mediums. The ensuing conversations were understandably eclectic, but very rewarding.
The week is continuing at the same frenetic pace. I'm heading off to college in Stamford this evening, but have forgotten my notes and so will need to go via Chez Who to pick them up. However, I've got a lovely weekend to look forward to. The
