You should know that this was never said by Marx. Well Karl didn't; I don't know about the rest of his brothers! ;@) He actually said,
"Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people."

Date: 2006-06-10 10:14 am (UTC)I did a general studies essay on that quote (the right one!) thinking it meant that religion causes a lot of trouble and fighting so did my essay on that premise, but apparently as my arguments were sound but I misunderstood the original quote (not being into drugs at the tender age of 17!) I still got a good mark!
