My Really good chum and I went on an adventure to the Westcountry Storytelling Festival in Totnes, Devon. My Chum tells you
what an ace time we had and so here are a few
pictures:

Francis Firebrace
Francis was one of the many captivating speakers at the Festival. His style differed from the other performers, because for much of the time he gave us an insight into Australian Aboriginal culture and what it can offer "English" culture. He felt very strongly that our children need more self-esteem and need to be encouraged to develop it. Francis told us that he'd "decided you're all my friends whether you like it or not!" I won't argue with that sentiment. |

Giles Abbot
Whilst others may have been swooning (well I may have just a little!) I was listening to this gifted storyteller develop character at the turn of a phrase and the most subtle of gestures. I've never heard the Norse Myths told with such energy and excitement. If the BBC ever bought back Jackanory he would have to become a stalwart of the show. |
 |
The Chalice of Fire
We all watched as our prayers and wishes burst into flame in the beautifully formed whicker chalice. The closing event of the festival also marked the end of summer and the transition to autumn. |
 |
The Chalice Burns
There was more than a whiff or two of paraffin helping the seasonal transition! |
