Stuff, not STUFF, just stuff

I'm not sure why I've not put an update up for a while. Probably because I've been very busy and not really had time to do anything with LJ, other than a hurried look and a few brief comments to other's posts. Perhaps my fascination with LJ is, shock! Horror! Gasp! On the wane? Who knows.
Anyway, lots and lots has been happening. The job is going well. It is physically demanding, but that is good for me. Moving 75kg barrels of beer certainly builds your upper body strength. I can now lift a barrel into and out of a van one-handed. I must have settled into the place becuase people are now coming to me for advice and I'm starting to see different ways of doing things about the place. I'm not scared of questioning what others have accepted as routine. One or two things have now changed for the better. One bonus of the job is visiting so many pub around Leicestershire, Rutland and Lincolnshire. I know lots of lovely places to take people for drinkies. There are also some beautiful hidden valley about the place in the Leicestershire Alps!
I'm also busy at the weekends. Last weekend
sarah_mum and I met up in London and went to
flickgc and
drplokta's wedding party. The bride and groom looked radiant and beautiful and a fine time was had by all. Seeing lots of friends was wonderful for me. I just wish I could get to meet them more often. Note to self: a party is needed whenever I get my own place. Note to you lot: Some interest in this house, but no offers and no viewings for over a week. Sarah and I spent the rest of the week quietly in Whissendine. We even managed to make the most of the wonderful spell of fine weather and sit out in the sun on Sunday afternoon.
More work this week, but with a lovely highlight last night. I drove over to Peterborough to enjoy the company of
nina321. We hadn't seen each other for nearly 2 years and it was good to catch up and see photos of her ever-changing hair styles ;@)
I'm now looking forward to the weekend. A weekend that will see Alex's 15th birthday on Friday. Sarah and Robin are coming over on Friday evening and we're all going out to eat. Saturday will see me taking a group of us paintballing followed by a small party for Alex and friends, chez Who in the late afternoon. Alex seems to be growing so fast. I can't help feeling that this is the last of his small person parties.
Sarah and I will be popping up to Nottingham a couple of times over the weekend. Firstly on Saturday night to meet up with firnds of hers who are up for a Horror/Fantasy convention and secondly on Sunday when we're dumping ALex and Evan in the Games Workshop and Forbidding Prices respectively. We're hoping to occupy our time by popping over to see
abigail_42 and family in their new home (is that still on?)
As you can see, busy, busy, busy

Date: 2006-09-21 07:06 am (UTC)Yes, we are still around, do you mean the Sunday?
Sherlock is going to work on the Saturday to pay the F***ing solicitors!
Nothing solid planned other than that as yet.
Would be nice to see you!

Date: 2006-09-21 04:58 pm (UTC)We have no plans, I expect we'll just be mooching around the house playing "lets rearrange the boxes" again!
You can come and have a picnic-type lunch if you like, or come later for tea and biscuits - whatever, we don't mind.
I'll try to behave and not wibble while you are here ;)

Date: 2006-09-21 06:39 pm (UTC)Head out along the A60 (Mansfield Road) and we are opposite Mapperley Hall Drive.
Does that make any sense?
I am not very good at directions!
If in doubt ask darth_tigger - she's been here!
We are about halfway round - which doesn't make a lot of sense as it's a circle, but if you are coming off Mansfield Road you want to turn right at the top of Watcombe Road and go round until you get to number 89 - if you go the other way the numbers are confusing - there is number 53 right next to 87, then there is us!
There is also a 10 and a half the other side which is in the middle of the inner circle!
It is a very silly road!

Date: 2006-09-21 07:06 pm (UTC)Used to be fabulous for underage drinking!
Well, if you get to there go up the road, turn left, go to where the road bears right and also goes straight on dipping downhill sharply, follow the road right and we are at the brow of the hill on the left. :)
