After my early start yesterday I got on with lots of household chores, but still managed to fit in a reasonably long soak in a hot bath - but Mendi was too poorly to scrub my back :@( before taking Alexi, Ivan and their friend Josh up to Nottingham. Ivan and I left the other two in the thrall of the Games Workshop to indulge in a quick bit of retail therapy – Ivan had saved up to buy Spiderman for the PC (not the movie version) we then recessed to a Starbucks for him to crash through the game on my laptop whilst I giggled at the truly awful sex scenes in Peter F Hamiltion’s latest offering – Mispent Youth. They have got to be the worst I have read in any genre – Isn’t there a competition that “rewards” badly written sex scenes?

Ivan and I moved venue to Pizza Hut for lunch and then collected the boys where I came in for a bit of hero workshop from a fan of the recently retired Warhammer Fanzine - Warpstone (I edited it for a couple of years). Tee hee!

We got home to finds an invite to go to Pixie’s landlady’s for a BBQ and Easter Egg Hunt. Panic ensued as Mendi had already agreed to go and see a friend of our – Fleur – who lives in a gypsy wagon. We went our separate ways and the boys and I had a great time at Liz’s. She’s even offered to host my birthday party – I’ve now got 3 venues to evaluate!

Mendi arrived for the last hour or so of the party and all got home at about 20.00 feeling very, very tired. ZZZ

Oh, PFH is legendary in SF circles for Bad Sex Scenes. I suspect the only reason the BSFA don't have an award category for it is that nobody else would ever get a look-in...

But Mispent Youth is positively oozing with it! [sorry]

As if that sort of behaviour would go on in a nice place like Rutland and especially those nice children who go to Oakham School!

Previous winners include Edwina Currie and Alan Titchmarsh IIRC.

I'll have to see how I can nominate PFH
Any suggestions?

He's almost as embarrassed, clumsy and bad at it as Robert Heinlein
