The lights have just gone on after take off and I am eagerly awaiting more food and booze - I intend to sleep as much as possible over the next 13 or so hours.

Looking back on this trip, I can honestly say that I have not really enjoyed it. Yes, profesionally, the trip has been a success, but privately & emotionally it has been difficult. I've upset people back at home and made some situations a lot worse by sticking my snout in where it's not wanted or needed. For that and many other things I can but tender my apologies - SORRY!!! In possible mitigation, I think that I was probably not fully recovered from the 'flu before I embarked on this trip.

It has also been quite a lonely trip. I've spent more than a few nights just sitting in my room. I think I'm coming to the conclusion that this long-haul travel is not for me. Unfortunately, there is no-one else in the company who could deliver the same results. I'm overdue a review with my manager and it seems to be an excellent opportunity to make my case for less travel and/or a better package.

Does anyone have any advice on how I should go about this or what I'm worth?

It's now 20.45 in the UK, but to me it's 04.45 so I think I'd better try & get some sieep, otherwise Thursday will be a write-of and I must get my sleep sorted out by Friday as I don't want to fall asleep when the Rutland Possee plus guests go and see Pixie & Hedge's friend Swift play fiddle with her folk-band in Lufbra - much yayness!

Amazingly, there will be more yayness on Saturday night when we all head to Leicester's de Montfort Hall to see the excellent Oysterband and guests in the Big Session. Finally, on Sunday my big sister Chrissy will be coming for lunch with her family! So you can see that I don't have no time for no steenking jet-lag!

We're now just flying over Deihi so I'm going to see how far I can sleep....zzz

Over half-way now and we've left India behind and are somewhere over Madasafishakstan (

Ahead lies crossing what's left of the Caspian and on over the Caucauses. I wonder how much I'll miss if I have-another sleep?...zzz

Well I missed them and the Black Sea. The crew have just turned the cabin lights on at 03.00 and we're somewhere over Bulgaria. Time for breakfast now.
