A New(ish) Car

Work has come through with the goods and I got to choose a car. This vehicle is only a stop-gap until I decide what I really want and get it delivered. Mendi and I had already decided that we needed an estate and so I only had two to choose from:
1. An 18 month old VW Passat. Delightfully finished in black, with a black interior to give it that everyday hearse effect. I suppose a recovering goth with a large family might have liked it, but I didn’t like the blinking I had to do when I returned to daylight after spending only a few minutes inside it. I took it for a drive and was reasonably happy with the performance, but they didn’t get much from a 2l engine.
2. A 6 month old Peugeot 406. Much nicer colour – metallic blue with +2 seats in the boot like our old Mazda (sob, sniffle). However, it was a diesel. I also took it for a drive and found it to be not too pedestrian.
Consequently, I made a decision and have come to the conclusion that I no longer have a live as I have chosen the diesel. Please feel free to laugh at me now.
Now all I have to do is select the car I really want. However, ST Stuff is being rather penny-pinching at the moment and I know I won’t have much of a selection to meet my criteria:
Essential
Estate/MPV
Good Performance
Not too naf
Desirable
4x4
7 seats
