I was feeling more than a little bit tired when I got back from the hospital and so I grabbed some more sleep and then helped
the_mendicant and our minions to tidy the house a bit. It was at this point that I got a text from NNN saying that she didn’t want to stay another night in London. She’d gone up to town with
daemongirl and had had a great time, but just couldn’t face another night of listening to Elrond snoring his head off and denying her any sleep. I got told off for suggesting that alcohol might solve her problems and she made plans to head back to the countryside.
By this time
squaddie had arrived en-route to the Edinburgh military tattoo. It was great to see him and loads of TLC was heaped upon him by
the_mendicant and me. We chatted and ate a superb cottage pie made by
the_mendicant and pretty soon it was time to collect NNN from the station. We couldn’t be bothered getting her and so we asked
gardenpixie to pick her up and bring her over. This worked out nicely because it meant that NNN could sprog-sit whilst the rest of us went out for a pub bounce on the QT.
We were joined by Kanga and the five of us had several drinks in the tow hostelries in our village before teetering back home to investigate the contents of my drinks cabinet. Pink Drink! Was turned down by all and sundry and so I was forced to make some CB for people to drink. In all this haze I hardly noticed NNN heading to bed and Kanga hopping home. That left the four of us to our own devices.
Bleurgh! Mendi and I returned to something resembling consciousness at 09:30 and realised that
squaddie and left before 07:00 – How did he manage it? However, we found that he must have been compos mentis when he left because he left a TTFN message on our dining table neatly laid out with pens from the boys’ art box. We also couldn’t find a Pixie, but she’d flown the coop to go and get fresh clothes from Chez Pixie (I won’t mention that she went straight back to sleep when she got there!) Funnily enough, sleep debt seemed to be the theme for Sunday :@)
In the afternoon we headed over to Swift’s house for a lovely BBQ where Alexi met Nathaniel who will be starting at the same school later in August. They soon hit ti off and were as thick as thieves by the end of the afternoon. Mendi and I got on really well with Nathaniel’s parents. They both lecture in drama in local colleges and have another son who has Asperger’s and a stroppy teenage daughter. M’thinks we will be seeing more of them.
We had to leave the BBQ reasonably early to get back home in time to feed and water the dog, cats and children and catch 40 winks before heading over to
the_a_r_b and
chaoshedgerow’s for supper. A fine time was had by all and I was more than a lit bit glad that Mendi was driving back (I was told not to drive for a couple of days after my Angiogram) because I was able to snooze away the bottle of red wine I’d consumed ;@)
Not a good day today – feel crappy and crabby – so what’s new there I hear you say. All I want to do is sleep. ZZZ
