Friday saw my manager and I having a long awaited planning meeting where we attempted to decide when and where I’ll start travelling again. The plan we came up with seems sensible, to a point! My first trip away will not be until the middle of October and that will only be a week in France (cue Booze Cruise!). In November, I’ll be in France for a fortnight and Germany for a few days; then the year will be rounded off with a 2-week trip to Singapore in early December. I’m not too happy about the amount of time I’ll be on the road in the run up to Christmas, but I should be able to move some of the stuff around to make things seem a little bit more sensible.
Late on in the day I heard the results of my Appeal. The level of the Warning was upheld but the duration was halved to six months. It was the result that I would have put my money on and reflects a true ST Bits compromise in that it addresses the points I made in my appeal without being seen to undermine my Manager [sighs]. I suppose its up to me to build bridges now – but I’d be interested to know if anyone knows what a Global Systems Audit Manager with extensive International Project and Programme Management experience is worth and if anyone is hiring! ;@)
I did the weekly shop on the way home and found a Pixie and a
daemongirl in the remaindered aisle and brought them home for tea! Pixie must have been making an impression on Rob, because she hadn’t been at our place for 5 minutes before he phoned up to ask where she was and what she was doing for the evening. Needless to say he soon joined us for food and drink and stuff and before long other members of the Unusual Suspect had shown up and we had quite party.
