Happy Day and Galoo-Gallay to you all! Here’s what me and mine have been up to:

Friday
I fled from work on Friday and then went out with Mendi to the wedding party of one of her colleagues. I t was al one of the local hotels and was reasonable fun. Mendi got to meet the Gorgeous Jan’s new girlfriend – Lucy. At least Mendi didn’t growl at her ;@) At one point I looked around and realised that I was with the most beautiful woman there! We tried to raid Pixie on our way home, but she decided on an early night and so we soon followed suit.

Saturday Morning
I got up early to sort stuff out about the house and take breakfast to Mendi who then persuaded me to go back to bed in a most appropriate way. Pixie and I then met up and did lots of practical things like taking books back to the library and doing the weekly shop. We headed homer to unload and then I got left behind to help Ivan with his homework whilst the gals heading off to Oakham for a giggle around the shops.
We invited Kanga to join us for the evening and we sat down and watched the undemandingly average Maid in Manhattan.

Sunday
The three of us woke slowly and Pixie and I didn’t take Maggie for her walk until the middle of the morning. We got back to some shocking news. Pixie’s 84 year-old father had fallen over and managed to break his femur! We reacted immediately and I drove Pixie to her parents’ house to pack a suitcase of stuff for her Dad before heading onto Peterborough hospital. We found him and Pixie’s very worried mother in the observation ward of A&E. He looked very poorly and in pain, but was being typically stubborn about “not wanting to make a fuss” and refusing painkillers. He and I had “words” and I persuaded him that the medics didn’t want to give him painkillers because he was a wimp, but because they didn’t want him tensing the damaged hip. I’m not sure who his consultant thought I was, but he seemed to treat me as a fellow medic after he heard me talking about pain.

We stayed until the middle of the afternoon and saw him settled and resting after accepting medication. Mendi phoned us and told us to bring Pixie’s mother to our house for a rest and supper before Pixie drove her home.

Monday
I had a day in London doing an auditing course and so I took the opportunity to wander around my usual haunts of Forbidden Planet, Orc’s Nest and Murder One (But I think I’m getting old because I didn’t buy a thing!) before meeting up with [personal profile] dougs, [profile] r0ach, [personal profile] sneerpout and [personal profile] flickgc for a few

It was great to meet everyone and I was a real hugslut. I would have loved to have stayed much later, but I had to head to the station to catch my train back oop north.

<lj-cut text="A Not So Grand Afternoon Out">
Tuesday
I was only in work for the morning because in the afternoon I had to take Mendi to the hospital for the follow-up appointment after her abnormal scan. Things went very quickly and the doctor had zapped all the abnormal cells before we almost had time to draw breath. This should clear everything up, but we still have to wait for the second biopsy results and another smear in 6 months time.

Mendi felt very sore after the procedure so she had a quiet evening. Later on in the evening we were visited by Pixie and Bob who were exhausted from travelling to and from Peterborough hospital to visit Pixie’s Dad. He’s had his op and seems to be doing OK.
