It has certainly been a week of interesting times.

Before I go on I should let you know that the Master is still in hosptial, awaiting an operation to rebuild he pelvis. The op is not likely to take place before Thursday because the medics are waiting for any abdominal swelling to subside. He's looking at a minimum of a 7 week post-op stay in hosptial and a long convalescense at the farm. To make things worse he's in excrutiating pain and is nil-by-mouth until after his op. I can't imagine how thirsty he must be in this heat. Basically he's a mess. The rest of the Northfield Team is pulling together and life at the farm is continuing apace. For example, I've been haymaking this evening.

It's Show Time!
Last Thursday saw me getting up at the unholy hour of 04:45 to drive down to Fleet Street to set up our stall at the St Brides Church Fete. Much sweating ensued as I had to haul the entire kit (including 600 1/4lb burgers) up two flights of stairs, through the crpyt and across the graveyard. It really was a beautiful setting and the church is magnificent. However, I didn't have much time to enjoy things as I had a very busy time of it until my beautiful assistant arrived. Sarah and I had a great afternoon and particularly enjoyed the company of [personal profile] dougs and [personal profile] arachne. Thanks guys! :@)

Sarah and I had to work up another sweat carring all the stuff back to the car before driving to Guilford. I then had to find the Guilfest sight and help Jan to load all the unsold meat into our fridge trailer. It was after 01:00 when I collapsed into Sarah's arms at the hotel after one of the most welcome showers I've ever had.

The Show Must Go On!
In the morning we both continued to take full advantage of a proper bed in a proper hotel room; and I even had another bath becasue I knew I wouldn't be getting another one for some time. Suitably energised we made our way onto the Guilfest site. What followed was three days of extremely hard work in very hot weather. However, it was a whole heap of fun, made pretty much brilliant because I got to spend time with an all round ace person and top festival guru. By all accounts Guilfest is a very small and somewhat staid festival. That didn't bother Sarah and I. We had as much fun working as we did getting our share of the festival. We had a good crew to work with (waves to [profile] omniscient_1) and joked with them and lots of our punters.

Some memorable moments:
Appreciation for the Leg-Action of Wonder in the dance tent
Catching the Waterboys' encore
Shang-a-lang
Gifts from the Goddess
The World's Most Expensive Pee
Howgrimisshe!
Hot girl on girl action - she'd have been welcome to stay in our tent

Late nights and early starts took their toll and it was just too hot to catch up on sleep during the day. Consequently, I was glad to be packing up on Monday morning and I've not been so happy to arrive at the farm for some time. However, I still found time to pop in to the field and welcome the 9 Gloucester Old-Spot piglets that had been born whilst we were away. Soooooooo cute!

I've realised that I haven't got a Festival or show icon - any suggestions?
