Some time ago I posted that I wanted to create a PC that would let me play older games that are utterly incompatible with Windows XP. I will have my filthy hands on that machine in a few weeks and my first step will be to install Windows 98. However, I seem to remember that the disks in that machine use a different file system and I may need to reformat them. Does anyone know if I will need to do that using a DOS format command or would the Windows 98 installation pick that up itself? Can someone remind me of the correct DOS command if it is the former?

You have to partition the disk with
fdisk
and format it withformat c:

2) Copy everything important off the C drive onto the D drive.
3) Unplug the D drive and keep it safe as a backup.
4) Wait a few weeks if you can.
5) Book the machine with win98 CD in the drive - it should hopefully notice and start the install process. You *will* need to reformat it but the install process should be able to cope.

I got one called ScummVM to play the old point and click lucasarts games, and it works an absolute treat!
